Defective Pressing of Guns N' Roses Chinese Democracy Vinyl? I bought a copy of the 33 1/3 vinyl record of the new Guns N' Roses at Best Buy in Mesquite, TX (near Dallas), and got a copy in Austin, TX. In both cases the album skipped at the same spot on side 3 song 10 (song "Sorry"). Anybody else heard news about a defective pressing, or had the same problem?

"Chinese Frog Can Sing Like a Bird July 10 — Scientists discovered that an unusual Chinese frog has the vocal skills of a songbird, science journal Nature reported recently. A team of scientists led by Albert S. Feng of the University of Illinois in Urbana was tracking what they thought were birdcalls on the bank of Tao Hua Creek in China. Instead they discovered male frogs of the species Amolops tormotus singing in high-pitched, warbling voices to attract mates. This is the first time a frog has been known to sing in rising and falling harmonies, said the article in Nature. All other known frog calls go up or down. These frogs also make noises that extend into ultrasonic range, something that no other known terrestrial frog can do. "Their range is incredible," Feng told Nature. It is not yet known if they can actually hear their own ultrasonic sounds, but Feng and his team plan to investigate. After analyzing over 12 recorded hours of frog songs from 21 individuals, Feng and his team discovered that no two cries were exactly alike. Called "sunken-ear frogs" in Chinese, Amolops tormotus are different from most frogs in that the males' eardrums are not visible outside their bodies. Instead they have ear canals that lead inside the head to the eardrum, which is positioned within the skull. Their unusual anatomy may explain why the frogs can make melodious, bird-like mating calls, Feng told Nature. Video recordings indicate that males can control their vocal sacs independently of one another, which may explain why their songs are so diverse and complex.
